Some Facts about Linseed Oil

A recent household-related newspaper column suggested using “mother’s recipe for furniture polish.” It was made of vinegar, turpentine, and boiled linseed oil. Do not use boiled linseed oil. The polish was used by museums for years until curators discovered it formed a solid crust that darkened wood and could not be removed. Today we know that the boiled linseed oil sold in hardware and paint stores contains arsenic, beryllium, chromium, cadmium, nickel, and lead, all dangerous to humans. Rags used with linseed oil and left in a pile have led to spontaneous combustion and fires.
Sometimes mothers’ recipes are great and other times, modern chemistry says try another cure!

Saturday Cathryn and Palmer were in our shop with lots of family members and chose several things to put on their ‘Wish List’ so that family and friends would know the items they particularly liked at In Due Time and Now…I Have Everything. Cathryn and Palmer are celebrating their love for each other on September 17th. If you want to give them any of these items, you will know that each was selected personally by them. Each is one of a kind, some are vintage. When they are gone, there is not a replacement — no more in the back room. We would be glad to help by wrapping each gift and getting it to the family. You can reach us at 229 890 8476.

Cathryn loved these bowls handmade by a local fellow. One is made of cypress. $160

There is a touch of retro in this beautiful bride! She also selected some depression glass. One is a green reamer — as useful today as it was back then! SOLD
Also selected by the couple was this divided depression glass dish with silverplate frame and handle. $38

A little silver plate covered cache also caught their eye. SOLD

A piece of DreamWorks Furniture is also on their list. Spacious storage underneath and a 125 year old piece of heart pine on top. $375

One item they noticed was a 3 piece salad set made of wood. SOLD

There are two lovely pieces of Redwing Pottery the couple loved! They are from the 1940′s. One is a covered platter. SOLD
One thing they agreed upon was liking a heavy silverplate Italian pitcher with ice lip. SOLD

These caught their eye! Blue Ball jars. They are clockwise from bottom, $10, $16, $24 and $48 for the lucky #13 jar!
