This is called a BOWL BIN and it was storage for all of a family’s wooden bowls. Don used, of course, hundred year old heart pine to make this wonderful recollection of history! A bowl bin!

DreamWorks Furniture Gets Better w Every New Piece

February 10th, 2010 . by admin

This is a “Statement” piece of furniture! A beautiful Queen-Sized bed made of all hardwoods. It has matching wood rails. It’s a generational piece — it can be handed down to children and children’s children. Must tell you a funny story about this bed that is in the shop with it’s short display rails. A little girl came in with her parents and they were admiring the bed. She said she thought it was dumb — you would have to be really short to be able to sleep there!

Ya Hit TWO Homeruns, Don Hancock

December 30th, 2009 . by admin

Don brought two pieces of DreamWorks Furniture to the shop today and oh, my! Take a look at these!

The first one is so neat! The door, with it’s textured glass, was, in it’s former life was a transom window in a bathroom. The window was horizontal in it’s day. It had metal rods that locked it out and open, that pushed it out a foot or more. Don calls this Transom Window Cabinet. It’s shelves are adjustable. The great part is that there can never be another one of these. Not only do I doubt we will find another transom window, but what are the chances of finding one with all the panes in tact?! The second piece is a Porch Post Book Cupboard. The columns are solid heart pine porch supports. And the little top detail? It’s hand carved mahogany and it is a little antique in it’s own right. Come on in and take a look!

Here’s What Don Hancock Does with Mahogany

November 2nd, 2009 . by admin

When DreamWorks Furniture was asked to make some mahogany bedside tables, this is what he did. There is a neat feature to these. See the top ‘drawer’? Well, it’s on a hinge and folds down for a little work or desk area. Great storage, great look and the workmanship!! Just about every thing is put together with joinery, not nails, not screws! It is really a fabulous job of cabinet making! Take a look!dcp_1876

It Is Still Coming In — Furniture From An Old Victorian

First there is a wonderful tall, pine cabinet with removable shelves and two drawers. This grand piece of furniture from England is put together with hand cut dove tails in the body of the cabinet and in the drawers.  This is a one of a kind piece.

Another piece from the same estate is a short pine cabinet with screen.  Lastly today, we got a shutter from this estate.  Don Hancock turned it into a great piece of DreamWorks Furniture; fabulous cabinet with fixed shelves.  The inside looks like it was ALWAYS attached to this shutter!

Classic Furniture Makes a Re-Appearance at In Due Time

March 27th, 2009 . by admin

It has been some years since Don Hancock has built these beautiful and useful window cabinets. There are windows on both sides. One opens. If you have expensive or collectible items, turn the door to the wall and little fingers can’t get to them. If you need an island in your kitchen, store your dishes or serving pieces or collanders or cook pots here. How about a foyer piece with storage? Many, many uses for these great pieces of furniture. One has a heart pine top and one has a soft, glowy cherry top. Did I mention that they are on wheels? Just gets better and better!
