Occasional Treasures

December 29th, 2007 . by admin

dcp_0890-1.jpgI sound just like Dorothy, but sometimes we go looking for treasure and find it right in our own backyard! Right here in little ol’ Moultrie, GA we have an artist who puts together unusual frames and original paintings. The frames have often begun life as doors, windows, cup or hat racks, storm windows, or any old thing that grabs her eye. Jeanie Merritt has been painting for as long as she has memory, but a few years ago, she has started putting her paintings in our shop, In Due Time, Moultrie, GA. She has painted cats, horses, vegetables, flowers, barns, more cats, rabbits, roosters, chairs, you name it! Her colors are cheery and bright, her subject matter is diverse and interesting.dcp_0891-1.jpg

Jerry Brown Pottery at In Due Time, Moultrie, GA

December 28th, 2007 . by admin

dcp_0908.jpgdcp_0909.jpgdcp_0906.jpgdcp_0907.jpgWell, we made it home from Hamilton, AL just before Christmas! We brought back a truck load of Jerry Brown Pottery. I had a terrible time selecting what I would bring back. Certainly, every piece would have looked great at our shop! Of course, we had to have some face jugs, a chicken jug or two, some bowls, some pitchers, some…well, you see my predicament, I am sure! Lots of nice items sold before Christmas, but here are some photos of delightful pieces still at In Due Time.

Revitalizing Leather Goods

December 10th, 2007 . by admin

I am not sure when I heard this tip, but it is cheap and works like crazy! If you have an old piece of leather, a belt, old suitcase or a tooled pocketbook, you can do wonders with, of all things, Brylcreem! If you are OLD, it’s the ‘a little dab will do ya’ product. It can still be purchased at the Marts and I am sure other places. I just clean off the dust, etc with any household cleaner. Then spread on the Brylcreem! Just rub on a sufficient amount to get it all covered. If it is really stiff, it can be left on overnight. They I take a paper towel and keep rubbing until no more shows up on my paper towel! It really puts the life back in everything I have tried it on!

Jerry Brown Pottery

December 9th, 2007 . by admin

dcp_0894.jpgThis week we will be headed to Alabama to pick up a truckload
of Jerry Brown pottery. Jerry Brown is a national treasure. As the country’s oldest pottery family, Jerry Brown makes pottery the old fashioned way. An assortment of utilitarian items, bowls and crocks, as well as his famous face jugs and chicken jugs, is what we hope to be bringing back to In Due Time this week. Come in and we should have everything in place by Thursday, December 13th, on the square in Historic Downtown Moultrie, GA. dcp_0893.jpg

100 Year Old Heart Pine for Your Knife or Marble Collection

December 2nd, 2007 . by admin

Some collections are easier to display than others.  I have seen wonderful marbles or pocketknives tucked in a drawer because it’s hard to find a good way to show them off.  DreamWorks makes these nifty pocket knife racks from our old heart pine.  We also make a similar item with little indents in the bars to show that antique marble collection! These cost only $22.00 and are available at In Due Time in historic downtown Moultrie, GA. dcp_0883.jpg
