2nd Annual ANTIQUES ROADHOUSE

April 24th, 2008 . by admin
  • COMING MAY 10TH New and Improved! ANTIQUES ROADHOUSE sponsored by the Downtown Moultrie Association and CNS. It just doesn’t seem possible that another year has come and gone already, but it has. This years Antique Roadhouse will feature big improvement over last year’s version. It has been relocated INDOORS. Last year the heat and smog nearly did us in, but we have eliminated that problem my holding it in the Downtown Courthouse Annex Building! Also this year we have added to our number of appraisers so we will cut down on the wait time by a good bit. A few times a month someone will come in asking about an item. When was it made? How much is it worth? This is your great opportunity to find out!
  • The appraisers have an accumulated 250 years information in their respective fields. They enjoy sharing this for the benefit of the Downtown Moultrie Association! Bring one or many items and for just $5.00 each you can find out all we know about them!!
  • The appraisals will begin at 9am on Saturday May 10th hand we hope to have everything looked at by 2pm that afternoon. Come join us for a fun day at Moultrie’s 2nd Annual Antiques Roadhouse sponsored by the Downtown Moultrie Association and CNS.

DreamWorks Furniture — What’s Old is New

These large, solid wood doors were salvaged years ago and this month Don Hancock decided that they should be corner cabinets! They are black with old green paint showing through in places. And they were matched so that one opens to the left and one opens to the right. What a great look! Come in and take a look. We sell them as a pair or singly. What a statement these would make in your home!

Vintage, Antique, Retro, Period ….. or what?!?!

March 18th, 2008 . by admin

in-due-time-020.jpgWhat you put out in your home makes a statement. The adorable vintage dresses on a white painted pie safe says primitive! It tells folks that you like things that look used for 100 years. Find a great spot to show off a 1970’s fondue pot, says you still like bell bottoms and flowers in your hair! Find what you like and let people know who you are by way of what you like. And the thrill of the hunt is the fun. Start looking for that perfect item for the corner bookshelf and if it takes 6 years until you find it, what a big WOW it will be when you do. And In Due Time keeps a ‘Want List’, as do, I am sure, lots of shops. Just let us know what you are looking for and we will keep our eyes peeled.dcp_1038.jpg

How to Cure Dried and Cracked Finishes with BRIWAX

March 11th, 2008 . by admin

image-12.jpgLightly apply BRIWAX with #0000 oil-free steel wool to remove just the top layer of old, dried finish. This will save the original finish. It will take time, but it’s worth it!

Have you tried BRIWAX!? This wonderful wax is used by the British Musuem. It is available in Clear and nine wood tones. Clear has been specially formulated so that it will not darken the wood, just enhance the grain. The colors enable you to tone down or tone up new wood, and help fill in small surface scratches and chips in older furniture or priceless antiques.

Want a great tip? Nylon pantyhose make an excellent buffing material!

BRIWAX products are available at In Due Time, Downtown Moultrie, GA.
